Pro Bono Students of Canada

In partnership with the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and the Lincoln Alexander Law School, Pro Bono Students Canada (PBSC) law student volunteers conduct research on topics of justice related to World War II in Asia. Their work examines historical memory through legal perspectives. Learn more

Global Scholars Program

In partnership with the University of Michigan Global Scholars Program, students pursue their interests in global issues by exploring the connections between war, peace building, and social justice. The program is centered on critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and active social engagement. Learn more

Summer Internship Program

We offer an eight-week full program and a six-week audit option for international and Canadian students. This summer program promotes multidisciplinary inquiry into the legacies of World War II in Asia through a peacebuilding lens. Students in the full program will complete an independent research project. Learn more

For Educators

Educate for Peace offers a dynamic, museum-based professional development experience for secondary school educators. Discover how the Asia Pacific Peace Museum transforms history of WWII Asia into an immersive, interdisciplinary learning for your students. Through four distinct lenses—historical, political, legal, and economic—teachers will explore using the framing questions designed to guide student visits. This program sparks critical inquiry into WWII in Asia, connecting past events to global peace.

Our education programs are designed using the following frameworks:

  • Historical Thinking Concepts: Historical significance, cause and consequence, continuity and change, historical perspective.

  • Equity and Inclusive Education: Understand intersectionality, power and privilege, detect bias and discrimination​

  • Global Competence: Investigate the world, recognize perspectives, communicate ideas, take action
