Gerri Gershon was trained as a psychiatric nurse before becoming involved in school issues in elementary school. She became President of her school council and eventually ran for public School Trustee. Throughout her long tenure on the Toronto District School Board she has held many leadership positions such as Chair of the Board, President of the Ontario Public School Board’s Association, and President of the Canadian School Board’s Association. She presently chairs committees on Ethics and Negotiations at the TDSB as well as chairing the Citizens Council for the Ministry of Health. Gerri has a particular interest in the Genocide curriculum which she initiated and also champions issues of social justice in the Toronto schools.
