Gen Ling Chang

Gen Ling Chang was the former Associate Director of the Toronto District School Board.  Prior to Canada, she taught at the National University of Singapore and the National University of Malaysia. 

​

She began her education career in Canada as a senior researcher with the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, which inspired her to choose to be a teacher in public schools.  As a teacher, principal, superintendent of education, and associate director, she consistently addressed the intersections between equity and excellence as well as system, school, and classroom conditions of learning that impact student success and well-being. Gen Ling Chang continued to exemplify and champion this unwavering focus when she served as a Senior Specialist with the Literacy and Numeracy Secretariat, Ministry of Education Ontario.

Gen-Ling’s commitment to and work on excellence and equity in education is inspired by those who are her mentors, and from the children and youth she worked with - their compelling lived experiences, dreams, and achievements against all odds.
