Shadows of Racism: Voices Unheard is a two-year, federally funded project focused on anti-racist learning, community building, and student empowerment through art. Shadows of Racism will connect secondary students with members of their communities who are willing to share their experiences with racism.

Students will receive workshops that explore structures and histories of racism and discrimination, as well as training in oral history methods and artistic expression (including visual art and video production). After receiving their training, student groups will produce their own multi-media artistic reflections on racism and anti-racism, which will be exhibited to the public.

ALPHA Education is thrilled to be embarking on this important project - to work with youth to increase understanding of anti-racism, intersectionality, social activism, and to foster meaningful connections with our diverse communities.
